It’s All about Father and Son
A mother and daughter’s bond is a bond like no other, however, often the father and son duo are missing from this exclusive relationship- so why not have one of your own? This article is for all single or partnered fathers who either want to find or keep and maintain a special bond with their son. Here are some ideas to generate a fun, happy and safe environment between you and your son(s).
A bike ride
Boys love exploring and bike riding can be a way of seeing many interesting sights. Why not get up early on a Saturday morning and explore your neighbourhood, you may also find a cycling path already set up by your local council. For a more interesting experience why not rent a tandem bicycle, it may make your son feel extra special and more connected to you.
Sandcastles
Got the bucket and spade? Why not spend a good hour or two shovelling, compressing and moulding interesting creations at your local beach. You may even want to volunteer your body to be covered with sand, the all-time favourite beach activity! Don’t forget the water and sunscreen!
Creative in the kitchen
What a nice idea to cook dinner for the family together! Spend some time that day going through cook books with your son to make him feel completely involved. You may even want to take it further by going to the markets for the ingredients; aside from bonding you are also teaching him the process of making a meal. Sit the rest of the family down and allow him to introduce the meal. Perhaps you can make this a weekly ritual!
Camping and Fishing
This can be a great opportunity to show your son a thing or two about the rewards of being patient and surviving out of home. It also means that you can engage in some private conversations, where if he is hiding any problems or worries, he will feel much better after the trip. Treat it like another adventure and remember to take lots of happy snaps. Check out www.fishwrecked.com for tips and advice on Perth’s offshore fishing.
