Be stylish and warm this winter and stay up to date with the current trends as seen on the catwalks and the streets of Paris, London and New York, all soon to hit the streets of Perth.
With the current economic situation, many of us will be thinking twice about making too many purchases for our winter wardrobe. You can still look trendy this winter with a few carefully selected pieces that can be used to create many of this season's looks. It's what I like to call a recession-proof wardrobe.
Winter this year will be all about MOD MOD MOD (Models Off Duty), preppie college chic, and tribal bohemian as the looks of the season, all of which can be pulled off with just a few key items.
The blazer has made a big comeback this season, and can be used for every occasion, from day to night chic. It's all in the details for edgy street chic: simply pull the sleeves back to give it that Model Off Duty look. Wear it over a V neck tee with skinny legged jeans or tight skinned leggings to get that ultra chic look. Why not top it off with a few thin leather bracelets twisted and twined, we liked Tods alligator leather bracelets.
The coat is always a vital component in your autumn wardrobe and a good investment piece. Use bright plaids when venturing to stand out from the crowd. The lumberjack plaid look is big this season and to keep your ears warm complete the outfit with a felt hat.
Metallic plays a big role this winter. The more you wear the better, as seen on international catwalks. Part dresses are completely lustrous and metallic or wet look tights and leggings are perfect for a little extra glam. And for the finishing touch, accessorise with key colours like black and white.
The tribal look is back this season, with more of a Bohemian twist. Wear a tribal pattern dress, belted, for a stylish earthy look. Pair it with some tights and your leather bracelets to complete the outfit.
This season we've been seeing bigger stand-out accessories. African inspired necklaces and jewellery are big, giving us an impression of modern African tribes coming to the city. These pieces are a hit this season and have featured frequently in the catwalks.
Stay tuned next issue as we look at the upcoming season trends.
