Welcome to our career showcase

Fire fighter

If you’re looking for an exciting career, it doesn’t get more brilliant than fighting fires. To gain entry into the career, you need to be in peak fitness condition and stay there. Another prerequisite of entry into this area, is an ability to remain calm under pressure as you will be facing a range of different and often emergency situations, from rescuing cats in trees to attending car accidents and large-scale disasters. Competition for places within the fire brigade is intense and it is usually expected that you have experience within voluntary bush fire brigades.

The average age of fire fighters is 40-years-old and weekly earnings are good at $1133. Work is usually full time but with lots of days free due to working in shifts.  At present, only 3% of the workforce is made up of women.
