Econo Mini

For most men it's about what's under the bonnet. But for most women it's about the overall package - from the colour of the car to its fuel consumption. Perth Woman recently took a spin in the new Mini Cooper D; Australia's most energy efficient diesel car.

With wheels positioned at each corner of the car, it has been designed for maximum space in the interior - essential after those long shopping trips. It can fit up to four people and has a maximum luggage capacity of 680 litres. It can accommodate any occasion. With stowage shelves and map pockets- just be sure to remember where you leave your keys.

It's available in nine colours ranging from Mellow Yellow - perfect for those long drives along the coast in summer to Chilli Red which will surely spice add some to your ride. But that's not all. You can also add racing stripes for a fun Go-Kart feel. Or choose the shade of the roof in black, white or the same colour as the body. Chrome has been used in abundance to satisfy a desire for all things shiny. If that wasn't enough to get your creative juices flowing, this little beauty can be customised from the material of the chairs (cloth, leather or a combination of both) right down to its hub caps.

The most useful and most frequently used features have been organised so that they sit together. The speedometer has been placed in the middle of the dashboard and it contains the entertainment and navigation functions as well. This means you can shuffle music while watching your speed limit - and the road - while never taking a wrong turn.

A little extra spending money never goes astray either. Using the latest common rail technology with direct injection makes this little treasure the most fuel efficient car in Australia. Averaging only 3.9 litres of diesel fuel for every 100km you can drive past the petrol station and head straight for the shops.

Lets not forget safety either. It's important to feel safe in your car - especially as Minis are always likened to Go-Karts. But you can rest assured when breezing down those long ocean roads. The Mini has received the maximum 5 stars in the NCAP Crash Test for adult occupant safety.

The Mini Cooper D is a compact yet spacious, custom designed fuel efficient car, with excellent features. It's perfect for inner-city living - but certainly wouldn't look out of place driving in the country. The only two things left to decide is what colour to choose and who to take on your next shopping trip!
