Novel About My Wife

Novel About My Wife

By Emily Perkins

In her book, Novel about My Wife, Emily Perkins composes a frighteningly morbid and hostile world in which a young married couple confront the complexities of adulthood.

When Tom, a skinnyish and fortyish English man and his Australian wife Ann move into a large run-down house in Hackney they feel as if they are finally leading an adult life but it's not long before insecurities and infidelity threaten their new start. To complicate matters further Ann becomes consumed by the threat of a mysterious 'somebody' that's lurking around the neighbourhood or possibly lurking in her mind.

This dark, sensuous and utterly compelling novel moves swiftly and awakens all the senses, with tangible descriptions of cold breezes, putrid smells and gentle touches giving life to Tom & Ann's lifeless surroundings.
