‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’
They. Can. Do. No. Wrong. When Dave Grohl stepped from behind the drums and into the spotlight, history was born. Grohl’s voice is now one of the most recognizable and, in my opinion, beautiful in Rock and Roll today. Many of the songs on ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace’ begin slowly and softly, gradually winding up to crank, or dropping in a thumping beat. ‘Let it Die’ is a classic example, beginning with beautiful folky acoustics before abruptly getting angry; hammering out a message. Just when think you’ve hooked onto a Foo’s melody, the songs take an unpredictable turn. Ambitious stuff that only the Foo’s could pull off!
