Introducing:
Wii Sports Resort.
Wii Sports Resort is the latest development in E-fitness.
E-fitness involves personal trainers that come in a box and getting fit from the comfort of your living room. The Sports Resort is the follow up to Wii Sports, the hugely popular interactive video game from Nintendo. It features 10 new sports and two improved versions of golf and bowling. Also, it comes with the Wii MotionPlus accessory that tracks player's movements in finer detail and with greater accuracy.
The Wii Sports Resort is set on a tropical island, so if you haven't had the chance to book a holiday lately at least you can pretend that you're away in a tropical paradise for an hour or so a day. After spending some time canoeing or 'power cruising' around the island you might come back (from your living room) feeling refreshed and relaxed too.
On the Wii Sports Resort you can play basketball, table tennis or cycling and bowling. If you have always wanted to go skydiving, wakeboarding or try flying an aeroplane but have never had the guts to do it, the Sports Resort is your chance to give it a go. There is archery for anyone hoping to improve their hand-eye coordination and even frisbee. The Wii Sports Resort also offers a 'Star-Wars-like' combat game called Swordplay, for those lightsaber loving boyfriends or George Lucas fans out there.
To start with, we were a little sceptical about staring at a TV screen and using a computer game for fitness. However we soon found that there are heaps of positive health benefits to be gained from using Wii Sports Resort. The activities can help with flexibility, endurance, strength and posture and mental health. It can also check upon your health status by testing your Body Mass Index (BMI) and by helping you set realistic fitness goals. Wii technology is even being used to help elderly or injured people in a nw form of rehab known as Wiihab.
There are no gym fees, no traipsing out in the cold or rain to go running and best of all, it's great fun! You can use it as a chance to catch up with friends or have some fun with the family. The hours fly by and you forget that you're actually getting a workout too. You can exercise your creativity as well and create your very own Mii character. Just be sure to wear some good quality shoes if you're playing a high impact sport like basketball and to warm up a little, stretching your muscles before a workout.
For anyone who likes their workouts to be fun and packed with variety, the Wii Sports Resort is perfect for you, especially on those days when it's raining outside and you can't bear the thought of hitting the pavement in your exercise gear- just yet.
