Top Chefs

As the saying goes, the key to a man’s heart is through his stomach. We speak to three top chefs about meals which will send their hearts aflutter.

Friends

Oysters are the ultimate aphrodisiac, especially when combined with the luscious flavour and sensuous texture of the sherry reduction and the decadence of truffles. Pair them with a deluxe Champagne from Friend’s wine list that has been awarded Australia’s best and a cosy table in the intimate romantic setting and you’ll definitely have a romantic evening. Multi-award winning restaurateur Clyde Bevan adds unparalleled views of the city and river to the Friends’ menu.

Dear Friends
The seafood assiette is a taste plate of local produce; seared local scallop, octopus, Fremantle mussels, shark bay octopus and locally caught wild abalone. The dish is finished off with freshly shaved Manjimup Truffle and a preserved lemon foam. Seafood (shellfish in particular) is a great aphrodisiac and paired with Swan Valley’s best sparkling, Mann’s Method Champenoise, is sure to get romance going. Chef Kiren Mainwaring’s restaurant is finalist in the 2008 Gold Plate Awards.

"Oysters are the ultimate aphrodisiac, especially when combined with the luscious flavour and sensuous texture of the sherry reduction and the decadence of truffles."

Le Paris Brest
Paris is the city of love so steal the ambience from Le Paris Brest of Kalamunda and indulge all your senses in the Lovers’ Paradise, a dessert sharing plate dreamt up for two, or try any number of the delicious cakes, sweets and pastries. A lively daytime eatery is transformed into a romantic dining space by night. Steal a morsel from each other’s plates after partaking in tender scallops with twice-cooked pork belly. Owner Liz Franssen has won four Gold Plate Awards with the eatery.
