Carry on Traditions
After nearly 30 years of bringing exclusive Italian Fashion to Perth, La Moda International Boutique in Claremont has new owners. Valma and Ross English with sister Jenny Traill have taken the reigns from founders Maria and Enzo Iustini.
The Iustini’s together with Valma and Jenny are currently traveling in Italy buying for the 2008 season. They will be meeting and reinforcing relationships with the Italian fashion labels that have been unique to La Moda for nearly three decades and absorbing their predecessors knowledge. They will be personally introduced to the suppliers by the previous owners which is a huge bonus.
"Jenny says the women were attracted to “the authenticity of what they’d created.” La Moda’s garments range from very classic wear, to casual, evening wear, lingerie, and everything in between."
“Maria and Enzo have spent years creating a business in which they would buy everything personally in Italy. We want to continue the trend.”
Having spent all her married life farming in Mukinbudin, with her now retired husband Ross, Valma has taken to life in the fashion world energetically. Her interest in and love for quality Italian fabrics began at La Moda when she used to shop there with her daughters. It was a great thrill when La Moda came up for sale which gave her an opportunity to engage her sister Jenny and friend from Mukinbudin Vania to help her pursue this dream.
"As summed up by the local newspaper in Mukinbudin, the women have gone ‘from farming to fashion…and now, to Italy!"
