Q. Could you tell us a little bit about the philosophy behind the Perth College of Beauty Therapy?
A. For over 20 years Perth College of Beauty Therapy has been committed to a high level of education, technology and training for our beauty therapist, makeup artists and nail technicians, preparing them for an extraordinary career in this expanding industry.
Q. Why do you think makeup is such a popular course?
A. Makeup has been around since the beginning of time. Current Western fashion and trends have in many ways been shaped by the different cultures through the ages; the body painting of African tribes, the artistic mendhi of the Indian bride and Chinese theatre being just a few examples. From Cleopatra to the vamp look of the 1920s, flower powerof the 60s and punk look of the 70s, to the disco diva and drag queen of the 80s. At Perth College of Beauty Therapy we train students on all these areas, which gives them a thorough understanding of how makeup has developed.

A. Perth College of Beauty Therapy offers many comprehensive program choices including the popular Diploma in Beauty Therapy, Diploma in Fashion Theatre and Media Make-up and a number of part-time courses.

Q. Is there a specific course which the Perth College of Beauty Therapy prides itself on?
A. The college offers an International Diploma in Makeup, Media and Special Effects, where many students graduate with distinctions. The five month course takes students through an exhilarating programme covering faces, techniques of all the wonderful applications of makeup themes and looks from various decades.
Q. What can students expect from the makeup course that your college has to offer?
A. Students learn not only the history of makeup but also work with body art, facial hair, photographers and fashion designers. During the course, students work on location and behind the scenes of theatre productions, film sets, photographic shoots and fashion parades. Together with this work experience they also learn how to put together a portfolio of work, design their own business cards and prepare resumes for future employment opportunities.

We invite you to visit the Perth College’s makeup department where you can meet our international makeup artist and lecturer Marian Peck who will share her passion, excitement and 17 years of makeup experience. Marian is one member of a dedicated and experienced staff team who love to share their experience and knowledge with students.
Q. What other facilities and services do you offer to the students and public?
A. There is the stylish and newly renovated beauty salon where students can practice their skills before embarking on their new career. The salon is also open to the public, offering all treatments at fantastic rates.
